Collections
The instrument collections of the Museo Galileo in Florence are among the most important in the world. These collections preserve an eloquent testimony to the promotion of scientific research carried out, first, by the members of the Medici dynasty, then by the Grand Dukes of Lorraine.
SCIENTIFIC INSTRUMENTS
Galileo at the museum
A look at the life of the Pisan scientist and his precious instruments and memorabilia preserved in the museum that bears his name.

Temporary exhibition
June 20 – October 19, 2025
The rare editions of volumes on display offer visitors a unique opportunity to admire masterworks usually conserved out of view. A photographic exhibition documents the most important moments in the life of the Institute over these hundred years. The story illustrates how Florence—with its history and heritage of texts and scientific instruments—has proven the ideal birthplace for this institution, which embodies a model practically unprecedented in the panorama of Italian museums.
