On 17 March, the Central State Archives in Rome will host the conference ‘Documentation from the Central State Archives for the INGV’s projects Centre and Catalogue of Strong Earthquakes in Italy: Disciplinary History and Science’. This initiative stems from the scientific collaboration protocol between Museo Galileo and the Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (INGV), as part of a broader effort to establish an Italian Historical Documentary Centre for Seismology and Meteorology, which aims to create a comprehensive digital archive dedicated to these fields. The project features the online publication of archival records from the Central State Archives on the establishment and development of public meteorological and seismic services, as well as the personal archives of renowned 19th- and 20th-century Italian seismologists, such as Giulio Grablovitz and Pietro Caloi. Additionally, the event will showcase the latest updates to the Catalogue of Strong Earthquakes in Italy portal.
Museo Galileo will be represented by Executive Director Roberto Ferrari, alongside Stefano Casati and Fabrizio Butini.
