The presentation of the results of GalileoLiveMuseum took place yesterday, Tuesday, May 19, at the Museo Galileo. This innovative project was developed in collaboration with G-LAB Srl Impresa Sociale (the operational branch of the Fondazione Golinelli) and co-funded by the Fondazione TIM.

The initiative was launched with the aim of revolutionizing access to and interaction with historical-scientific heritage through the use of immersive technologies, enhancing public engagement before, during, and after the visit. The tangible results demonstrate how the project has become an essential resource, particularly for young people and schools, while also serving as a valuable tool to guarantee remote accessibility for anyone unable to visit the museum in person.

Thanks to the development of augmented reality (AR) applications and virtual reality (VR) experiences, visitors and students can now literally break down the barriers of the display cases. During the event, it was shown how users can virtually interact with precious and fragile, non-handling artifacts—such as the Nocturnal, the Monastic Alarm Clock, or the Arabic Celestial Globe—by observing their internal mechanisms, simulating their use, and easily understanding their function within the scientific context of the era.

The project is part of Museo Galileo’s ongoing innovation journey, which gained new momentum on the occasion of its centenary celebrated in 2025, confirming the institution's continuous commitment to engaging with contemporary languages. As Executive Director Roberto Ferrari pointed out, these new technologies do not replace the unique value of the original historical object, but are designed to amplify its narrative capacity and educational potential, making culture an increasingly participatory and open experience for everyone.
