The Museo Galileo Digital Library has been selected as a winner of the Digital MAB call for proposals. This recognition is for a research-action project developed in collaboration with the National Central Library of Florence (BNCF). The initiative aims to foster the interoperability of digital content and to enhance the value of iconographic heritage through the integration of heterogeneous resources.
The project involves the design and implementation of a prototype iconographic archive capable of collecting, integrating and providing access to various types of material. The system will enable cross-collection searches using controlled and formalised keywords on the basis of the Nuovo Soggettario, edited by the BNCF. This standard ensures descriptive uniformity and establishes semantic connections among diverse resources types.
The collaboration between the Museo Galileo and the BNCF marks a significant stride toward developing shared digital tools and constructing semantic networks that can link documentary and iconographic collections across different institutions.
