February 2025 marks 40 years since Nuncius published its first article. To celebrate this milestone, Brill Publisher has made freely accessible 40 key articles that have been published in the journal since its birth in 1986 to date.
Actually, the story of Nuncius is older: the journal is heir to Annali dell’Istituto e Museo di Storia della Scienza, which was founded in 1976 by Maria Luisa Righini Bonelli, then director of the Museo di Storia della Scienza (today Museo Galileo). The current subtitle Journal of the Material and Visual History of Science was adopted in 2011, following Annali di Storia della Scienza and Journal of the History of Science. Over the years, the journal has established itself as an international landmark for the studies in the history of science. Today Nuncius remains committed to showcasing outstanding scholarship in the field, with a special focus on early career researchers and innovative content.
