The Museo Galileo library recently acquired the private collection of books and documents of Maurizio Torrini, a historian of philosophical and scientific thought of the modern age.
The book collection consists of several thousand volumes covering Torrini's salient interests: Italian and European culture between the late 16th and 18th centuries (with particular reference to Galileo, Descartes and the scientific revolution) and Neapolitan philosophical and scientific thought. There are also texts and studies relating to the main currents of 19th-century thought and twentieth-century Italian culture.
Notable among the archival documents is the correspondence, an important source for studies on the Italian historiography of science and philosophy in the last decades of the 20th century and at the beginning of the new millennium.
