News: Circinus: Proportional Compasses from the 15th to the 18th Century

On the occasion of the exhibition Circinus: Proportional Compasses from the 15th to the 18th Century (Museo Galileo, 28 June – 15 September 2024), the Museo Galileo is pleased to announce the publication of a thematic digital library dedicated to the history of this extraordinary instrument, which is one of the most significant achievements of applied mathematics in the Western world.

The digital library provides comprehensive and important documentation of studies of proportional compasses from the 15th to the 18th centuries. The digital library is an "open" research space that will be updated constantly with the contributions of scholars. In addition, it contains a multitude of resources that can now be accessed from a single entry point.
